BTS: Making June 2026 'Ladybug Luck'

Here is a little behind the scenes blog of making June’s mail!

For the very first letter, I really wanted to try and capture all the vibes of Ladybug Mail Club. I started by deciding on colour palettes and patterns, and pretty quickly landed on polka dots as a little reference to ladybug spots, along with lots of pinks and reds.

I absolutely love pink and red together. It’s one of my favourite colour combinations ever, so that felt like the perfect place to start. From there, I started moodboarding. I collected pink and red packaging I found, patterns I liked, bits of fabric, and anything else that felt right. Building this mood board really helped me figure out the direction I wanted to go in for the first ever letter. And of course, I had to include my love for pink gingham!!

From the mood board, I then started developing the theme and thinking about what this first letter was actually going to represent. After lots of mind-mapping and scribbling down ideas, I landed on Ladybug Luck!

Once the moodboarding and mind mapping stages were done, I moved on to sketching. I filled my sketchbook with doodles, patterns, and ideas for things I could include in the letter while planning all the little goodies to send to you. At this early stage, my sketchbook was honestly a complete hot mess of red, pink, spots, and ladybugs haha!

Then I started making everything that would actually go into the letter, and this was definitely the stage that took me the longest. I just wanted it to be the best I could possibly make it. I spent months tweaking tiny things that no one else would probably even notice, but to me they were suddenly the only things I could see until I adjusted them ever so slightly haha

I definitely felt a bit nervous during this stage too, because I really wanted to send you things that I felt genuinely proud of, things I actually loved myself, and make it as good as I possibly could. Honestly, if I hadn’t given myself a deadline, I’d probably still be tweaking tiny details now, like rotating a letter one degree more to the right hahaha!

After that, I started going through different printing materials and figuring out the best papers, cards, and finishes. I wanted everything to feel as lovely and high quality as possible, so I spent weeks comparing samples and working out what felt best. I even made a Google spreadsheet where I rated all the different papers, cards, and finishes by feel, which is very me haha!

When all my printed things arrived, it felt so surreal. I had never had any of my work professionally printed before, so I genuinely couldn’t believe it. I immediately stuck loads of it up on the pinboard above my desk haha. It all looks so pretty. I used the journal papers, both sticker sheets, and the member card to decorate it, and I love how it all looks together!

I can’t wait for you to use everything too, however you want. Whether that’s journaling with it, decorating your wall or pinboard, or even just keeping the letter safe in a little box somewhere :)

So now, here we are!!!! Ladybug Mail Club is open, and the June 2026 letter is ready to be sent to you! :)))

Hopefully, I’ll speak to you next in a letter!
